News about a Competition sponsored by Sandy Town Council, Sandy Carnival and Sandy & District Horticultural Association:
I hope that everyone is staying safe and well at this time and that the lockdown period has not proved too onerous. The weather is remaining glorious but it is not good for those of us trying to grow allotment crops on lighter soils.
You may have seen by now that Sandy Town Council is sponsoring a Sandy Scarecrow Competition this month for residents of the town – please encourage all your friends and neighbours to create & submit an entry. I have attached an example of the Competition advert that can be found through the Council’s Facebook pages.
It is being co-sponsored by both our Association and also the Sandy Carnival. who will be providing a prize for the best entry from a household outside the town of Sandy, e.g. Tempsford/Moggerhanger etc. I have agreed our contribution with the town’s mayor and town clerk.
The aim is to hold the festival/competition from 8th June to 21st June. As well as placing their scarecrows outside their houses. residents will be encouraged to send in pictures of their creations to the Town Council email address: email@example.com. The Council will then place these on social media under a pinned post on the Town Council Facebook page.
